IND beat ENG by an innings and 64 runs, win series 4-1

In a stunning display of dominance, the Indian cricket team secured victory against England at Dharamsala, with Ravichandran Ashwin shining with a record 36th Test five-wicket haul on his 100th match in the longest format for India. The match concluded with India defeating England by an innings and 64 runs.

During the intense clash, Ashwin’s exceptional performance left England reeling as he dismantled their top three batsmen within the first 10 overs of the visitors’ second innings. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah also made significant contributions, each claiming crucial wickets to further strengthen India’s position.

Despite a commendable effort from Joe Root, who displayed resilience with his bat and scored 84 runs, England struggled to counter India’s formidable bowling attack. The last English wicket to fall in the series was that of Root, bringing an end to their innings and sealing India’s victory.

Earlier in the match, James Anderson achieved a significant milestone by becoming just the third bowler in history, after Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne, to claim 700 Test wickets. His feat, combined with Shoaib Bashir’s impressive performance, temporarily halted India’s momentum but couldn’t prevent them from securing a commanding lead.

With this victory, India concludes the series on a high note, showcasing their prowess and dominance in the international cricket arena.
