Munawar Faruqui breaks silence on allegation that Bigg Boss 17 winner was fixed: ‘Got nothing on platter, I worked hard’

Munawar Faruqui, the recently crowned winner of Bigg Boss 17, has addressed the circulating rumors of being labeled a ‘fixed winner.’ In an exclusive interview with ETimes, the stand-up comedian shared his thoughts on the accusations and provided insights into his journey on the reality show.

Faruqui, when questioned about the allegations of a ‘fixed win,’ responded by urging critics to watch the entire season before forming conclusions. He emphasized the intense scrutiny he faced throughout the competition, stating, “If one has to go through so much scrutiny as a supposed fixed winner, then it can’t truly be a fixed winner.”

Acknowledging the skepticism, he further expressed, “I would have wanted to change perceptions before going to Bigg Boss, but now I feel I can’t change everyone’s opinion.” Faruqui highlighted the challenges and hard work he put into the show, countering the notion that his victory was handed to him effortlessly.

Commenting on the public sentiment, he said, “I think I won because of people’s love.” Faruqui acknowledged the reality that, in reality shows with a strong fanbase, opinions can vary, and not everyone may agree with the outcome.

Since his win, discussions have emerged on social media, with some viewers expressing different opinions on the deserving winner. Actor Abhishek Kumar, the first runner-up, garnered attention, with contrasting views on whether he should have won. However, reports suggest that Munawar Faruqui secured the trophy with a substantial difference in votes.

As part of his victory, Munawar Faruqui was awarded the Bigg Boss 17 trophy, a stylish new car, and a grand cash prize of ₹50 lakh. This achievement marks his second reality show win, following his success in Lock Upp season 1 in 2022.
