A woman was hospitalized following a dramatic incident at Mathura Railway Station when an Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train, originating from Delhi, derailed and unexpectedly climbed onto a platform. The incident occurred at approximately 10:50 pm on Tuesday, sending shockwaves through the station and the local community.
The EMU shuttle, which had commenced its journey from Shakur Basti in Delhi, was scheduled to arrive at platform 2A of Mathura Station. After all passengers had disembarked from the train, maintenance staff were conducting their routine procedures when the unexpected incident unfolded.
According to Prashashti Srivastava, the spokesperson for the Agra Division of North Central Railways (NCR), the train inexplicably rolled down the tracks, eventually mounting a platform before coming to a halt. This sudden and unprecedented event left everyone at the station in a state of surprise and concern.
Preliminary investigations suggest that negligence on the part of the staff present may have played a role in the incident. As a result, immediate action has been taken, with five individuals, including the train’s loco pilot and three technicians, being suspended pending further inquiry. To ensure a thorough investigation, a four-member committee of senior railway officials has been formed to examine the circumstances surrounding this unusual event.
