The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has made a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to safeguard national security. On Tuesday, at 3:34 pm, the ATS arrested a man in Lucknow, identified as Shailesh Kumar, also known as Shailendra Singh Chauhan, on charges of espionage and passing vital information to the Pakistan-based Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Shailesh Kumar, a native of Kasganj, was apprehended while working as a porter on a contractual basis in the army quarters in Arunachal Pradesh. The arrest comes after an extensive investigation led by Special DG of Law and Order, Prashant Kumar.

The investigation revealed that the accused had established contact with an ISI agent, Harleen Kaur, through social media. Subsequently, they began communicating via messenger applications. Harleen Kaur introduced Shailesh to another ISI handler named Preeti. Preeti informed Shailesh of her affiliation with the ISI and offered financial incentives in exchange for his cooperation.
The ATS disclosed, “Shailesh was instructed to provide photographs capturing the movements of the Indian army, which he willingly did, earning Rs 2,000 per photograph.” It was noted that Shailesh had posted a profile on social media in which he was seen wearing an army uniform, which attracted the attention of ISI spies.
Additional DG of ATS, Mohit Agarwal, reported that the accused’s mobile phone has been seized and sent for forensic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation. Shailesh Kumar is currently in custody and will be subjected to further questioning.
The Uttar Pradesh ATS reaffirms its commitment to national security and urges citizens to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. The apprehension of Shailesh Kumar underscores the importance of maintaining the integrity of sensitive information and safeguarding national interests.
For further updates on this matter, the ATS will provide relevant information as the investigation progresses.
