It’s been 13 years since India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to win the prestigious World Cup 2011 on April 2, 2011. After the win, the Indian Cricket Team lifted legendary Sachin Tendulkar on their shoulder as a tribute to his contributions.
The World Cup 2011 marked several firsts including the first time in World Cup history that two Asian teams appeared in the final and the first time since the 1992 World Cup that the final match did not feature Australia. The final between India and Sri Lanka also saw stunning performances by Ms Dhoni,Gautam Ghambir and Zaheer Khan.
